Monday

 

Objectives-  Students will be able to identify the vocabulary with up to 80% accuracy

 

We will quickly review for a vocabulary quiz by playing grudgeball and then take a vocabulary quiz.  

 

Tuesday- Wednesday

 

Objectives-  The students will be given information answering the question, “What is Horticulture?”

 

We will go over the resources covering What is Horticulture giving students more information on how to define this class.  They will be asked to take notes over this information by creating a chart that defines each of the types of horticulture and places them into the groups they belong.  

 

Thursday

 

Objectives- Students will identify each of the types of Horticulture

 

I will put up definitions of the types of horticulture around the room.  The students will be given 11 sticky notes that they will write the name of each type of horticulture on.  When they are told to stand up students will go around the room placing their sticky note on the type horticulture they believe it is.  

 

Friday

 

Objectives-Students will be given information on their research project.

 

This day will be used to explain their first research project.  Each student will be given a type of horticulture to research where they will create a document similar to a poster describing this.  They will be given a rubric to go off of.

Lesson Plans 1st 9 weeks

 

Monday-

Objectives:  Students will be able to function in my classroom with little to no distraction by following the class rules and procedures

 

We will spend this day doing introductions as well as going over all of the rules.  For introductions students will be drawing constructing a flower with the following things on it

  • Your Grade in School

 

  • An activity you are involved in

 

  • Your favorite flower

 

  • Your family

 

  • Your future career

 

  • What you want to do after you graduate high school

 

  • Your pet

 

  • Your goal in life

 

  • Your favorite color

 

  • Your favorite food

 

  • Why you are taking horticulture

 

Following introductions we will go over class rules and procedures.  We will practice 3 of the procedures we will have discussed before students leave.

 

Tuesday-

 

Objectives:  Students will understand many of the opportunities that the FFA can and will provide to them in this class.  

 

Today we will discuss the many things that the organization they are now involved with can offer to them.  Following our discussion they will be asked to fill out a google form explaining any of their interest in this organization so we can send them more information.

 

Wednesday-

 

Objectives- Students will be familiar and comfortable with google classroom

 

Students will begin the day by learning how to use and log on to google classroom.  We will discuss what to look for on a daily basis as far as warmups or announcements are concerned.  They will also learn how to turn work in.  If we finish before class is up students will begin their vocabulary lesson.

 

Thursday

 

Objectives-  Students will define and put a picture with each of the terms that have been posted on google classroom.  The picture should be representative of the definition.  The terms will be.

Friday

 

Objectives-  Students will be able to make connections with each of the vocabulary words.  

 

For each vocabulary word students will need to do the following things.  This will need to be done in their spirals.  

  1. Give a definition
  2. Write a sentence
  3. Draw a picture

4. Make a connection
